O Daniel

Daniel is one of six children born to his parents. His mother never had the opportunity to attend school and his father attended only through grade 7. Later in life, Daniel's father had the opportunity to attend a Bible program and to train as a pastor. Daniel grew up seeing his father serve as a pastor in their small village while farming to provide enough food to feed his family. Daniel helped his father in farming while attending a government elementary school whenever the family had money to pay school fees. God also provided through a family friend who paid Daniel’s fees for a couple of years. Government schools often present challenges with overcrowded classrooms (sometimes 100 students to 1 teacher), no scholastic materials and inconsistent teachers. In the face of these challenges, as well as often not having money to attend school, Daniel maintained passing grades through 10th grade and completed the national exam. His dream of becoming a secondary teacher, however, required attendance of the last 2 years of advanced level high school to qualify for university. God provided an opportunity at a Christian school where Daniel could work while he studied in exchange for a portion of his school fees. He eagerly took advantage of the opportunity and completed his advanced high school years. Now in Launch Uganda, Daniel is grateful for God’s continued provision for his education and looks forward to a time when he will be able to take care of people through teaching and pastoring.
